For me, as a clinician, this first CED IADR summer school in Marseille by Prof. About was the ideal place to learn basic though necessary lab techniques concerning dental tissue regeneration. The practical and efficient way the workshops were organized, the open and patient attitude of the knowledgeable instructors and the discussion moments in a pleasant atmosphere were ideal to develop skills and new ideas that could be implemented in my PhD research side projects.
For anyone interested in the field of dental tissue regeneration: this summer school was the place to be!!!

The experience of CED-IADR summer course organized in Marseille by Prof About was one of the best I would ever imagine. Learning and being advised by the real source of our scientific field, and the same time being to the summer destination of Marseille. It was really great the feeling that you learn so many interesting things and the same time having so much fun. All the supervisors were really approachable, hard working and willing to help us. Every single person I have met has such a pleasant personality! I couldn’t stop discussing about cultural, scientific matters and so many other things! I am impressed and honored of how during this CED-IADR Summer School week I made so many friends worldwide, meeting talented and experienced professors and sharing the ideas and the ideals of being engaged with the field of science!

I will always remember this experience as an incredible chance to meet and learn from Prof. I. About and his wonderful team. We were taught many innovative research methods to improve not only as a professional but also as a person. They showed us the real power of working with vocation and love, giving us the main key for our future development.
In addition, we were able to meet and get in touch with many other young researchers from many different places coming from several knowledge areas with diverse interests.
I would like to encourage other research groups related to other universities and/or institutions all over the world to follow this example and be the next repeating the same successful enterprise.

Very pleased participating to a so well organized CED-IADR Summer School! It was an amazing experience being taught by so qualified tutors and simultaneously having the opportunity to discuss with them. Belonging to small groups consisting of 6 to 7 members, trial of every technique by each member was a fact. Participants, all over the world, with different cultures, unique personalities, scientific experiences and ideas had the chance to interact. Many microbiological procedures, including bacteria mobility observation, catalase test, antibiogram and bacteria gram staining, took place. One of the most impressive techniques that took place in this summer school was the entire tooth culture procedure, giving to a scientist the opportunity to keep alive a whole treated tooth, from two to four weeks, and discover later the effects of the selected therapy to its pulp. Making tooth slices (paraffin box) and observing them under microscopy after hematoxylin and eosin staining was a unique experience, too. Furthermore, was really exciting observing how many cells can appear in culture medium in approximately 15 days around a pulp piece and isolate specific populations by magnetic sorting technique. Finally, I am so grateful meeting Professor Imad About, a so admirable person and scientist and his perfect team!
