Robert Frank Award Competition

This is the most prestigious scientific award provided by CED-IADR. From the CED-IADR 'Robert Frank Award Winners', up to 3 winners will be selected by a jury to represent CED-IADR at the IADR Unilever Hatton Award Competition during the next General Session & Exhibition of IADR.

The CED-IADR Robert Frank Award competition has 3 categories: JUNIOR, SENIOR/Basic Science Research & SENIOR/Clinical Research.

How to proceed

  • Submit an abstract to the CED/PER-IADR congress (see congress) via the online abstract submission site and check the box representing the respective award category you wish to compete in (see below the categories junior/senior).
  • Follow the additional submission instructions on the abstract submission website.

  • Once the notification of abstract acceptance is communicated to the presenters, the Jury will make a pre-selection out of all abstracts submitted to the competition.
  • All applicants will be informed by email of the pre-selection results.

  • Candidates pre-selected for the CED-IADR Robert Frank competition will have to present their abstract orally in front of a 'CED-IADR Robert Frank Award' jury.
  • The CED-IADR Robert Frank abstracts/presentations will be displayed throughout the congress in a poster session.

Competition

The competition usually takes place on the Wednesday afternoon during the CED/PER-IADR congress.

Usually, the CED-IADR competition jury consists of 3 members (from which at least 1 is a CED-IADR Board Member) specialised in different scientific fields. The CED-IADR Secretariat ensures that the jury members have no conflict of interest with any of the competitors.

Each jury member receives an individual score sheet, which they are to complete individually and independently. Upon completion, the score sheets are collected by the CED-IADR Secretariat, who will calculate the average score of the 3 jury members. In the next stage, the award winners are selected.

Judging Criteria (equally rated):

  • Overall study impact
  • Materials & methods
  • Presentation/poster design
  • Presentation skills
  • Discussion and question responses

Prize

For each category, up to two prizes are awarded.

Prizes consist of:

  • first prize: 1.000 EUR + 1 year free membership
  • second prize: 500 EUR + 1 year free membership

Please be informed that CED-IADR award competitors are obliged to attend the Congress Opening Ceremony & CED-IADR General Assembly (GA) for the official announcement of the winners during the Congress Opening Ceremony (registration is required) and CED-IADR General Assembly (usually on Friday during lunch).”

Note: If a winner is not present at the Opening Ceremony & CED-IADR General Assembly, the prize will not be paid.
